Pakistan hosts the Ninth Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC):

His Excellency Ambassador Brahim Romani, representing Algeria, participated in the Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Women, held in Islamabad on July 12-13. The conference brought together approximately 190 delegates representing 57 OIC member states, including ministers, government officials, and women leaders, as well as representatives from OIC institutions and international organizations concerned with women's issues.

The conference, chaired by Pakistani Minister of Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar, aimed to strengthen cooperation among member states in empowering women and supporting their social, economic, political, and professional participation. This, in turn, contributes to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in the Islamic world. The conference also reviewed progress made in implementing the resolutions and recommendations issued by previous ministerial sessions.

The conference was opened under the supervision of the guest of honor, the Chairman of Senate, Mr. Yousaf Raza Gilani. Mrs. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, was the guest of honor in the evening session, where both of them and the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Mrs. Shaza Fatimah Khawaja, delivered speeches highlighting the achievements and programs to promote the status of women in various fields in Pakistan. The conference concluded with the adoption of the “Resolution of the Ninth Ministerial Conference” and the “Islamabad Declaration.”
