Africa Day Celebration

On June 18th, H.E Dr. Brahim Romani, Ambassador of Algeria to Islamabad and acting Dean of the African Ambassadors Group, participated in the celebration of ''Africa Day'', hosted by the Islamabad Institute Strategic Studies- ISSI, affiliated with the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event was attended by a number of officials, the guest of honor, former Foreign Minister Khurram Dastagir Khan, Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, President of the Institute, Dr. Amna Khan, Director of the Center for Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary for Africa, as well as several ambassadors, accredited diplomats, journalists, and university professors.

In his address on behalf of the African Group, the Algerian Ambassador emphasized the deep historical ties that bind Africa and Pakistan, characterized by enduring values ​​of solidarity, brotherhood, and cooperation dating back to their shared history of liberation. These ties continue to this day, strengthened by a complete convergence of views and shared values ​​in defending the principles of freedom, justice, self-determination, South-South cooperation, and the struggle for a more equitable and just multilateral international order.

 The ambassador also called for the need to develop a pragmatic and fruitful approach aimed at strengthening this cooperation to include all areas of common interest by activating and developing cooperation mechanisms, and focusing on partnership and investment in the great capabilities of both sides, Africa and Pakistan, for a promising common future.
